Let me begin by saying when I was approached to do this article, I was
honored and horrified at the same time!  How was I going to write something that would encompass everything I would want to about Myra. I will say that Myra and Kevin are a "perfect match" in the true sense of the word.  When you think of the word "soulmate" think of Myra and Kevin, because I see the word manifesting itself before my eyes everytime I'm around them, for they have found it in each other.

I digress though...this article is supposed to be about me & Myra!!  Our
relationship started through our membership in the same sorority, Zeta Phi Beta, an international organization. I became a member while at the University at Albany (NY) and as you all know, Myra became at member at Syracuse University.  It wasn't until three short years ago that I met Myra by joining the graduate ZETA chapter she was in.  I had heard so much about her because she had become close friends with a mutual sorority sister I know.  I value the opinion of the sorority sister she was friends with highly, so I knew Myra must be on the up & up!   When I first met her, she immediately welcomed me into the chapter as if she had known me for years.

Over time, our friendship has grown and I admire her more everyday, for no matter how much she has going on she still has the time/energy to add on one more thing!  Even though she has been busy with graduate school for the majority of the time I've known her, she still makes time for the sorority, she makes time to spend time with Kevin, her family and friends and above all she makes time for church and The Lord.

Myra's conviction to the church and practicing His word in her daily life has
truly been an inspiration to me.  I see that through her He is touching all
of us...her generosity, her welcoming, pleasant demeanor, a hard-worker and extremely dependable are just a few of the things that make Myra the person she is.  Her dedication to all she attaches herself to is second to none. When I hear the phrase "strong, Black woman" Myra is one of my friends that not only fits in the category, but defines it.

If I'm having a bad day, all I have to do is call Myra and she will brighten
my day with a funny story or laugh at my corny jokes. In her, I have found a wonderful friend.  I hope that our friendship continues to blossom in the
coming years and I look forward to the day that we are relaxing in our
matching blue & white ZETA rocking chairs reminiscing about the "old days".

Now bring on August 2001 because I have a wedding to attend!
