I Corinthians 13:1
“If I speak in tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or clanging symbol…..”

Kevin D. Miller is a man who loves the Lord, his family, his community, his fraternity, and his lovely fiancé Myra.

I’ve known Kevin since 1982.  Our two worlds met, (despite the fact that I lived near the #2 train, and Kevin lived near the #1 train, and that we attended separate high schools), one Sunday afternoon in a basement of a church in Harlem, USA.

I will try and give you a very small peek into the Kevin I knew in the early 80’s, the Kevin I knew in the late 80’s through the 90’s, and the Kevin I know today.

The Early 80’s
Kevin was very competitive, whether it was stealing second base, driving pass a defender for an easy, uncontested lay-up,  showing his latest comic book addition, or wowing an audience with a speech.  His drive to be the best and his strive for excellence was always apparent.

The Late 80’s through the 90’s
I pledged Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., the most prestigious fraternal organization in the world.  This occurred while Kevin was a senior in high school.  Being a proud Sigma man, I wore my letters and colors with pride.  The following year Kevin graduated from high school and packed his long johns, and earmuffs and headed for the cold weather of Syracuse University. This is where Kevin met the brothers of Sigma. The rest is our treasure.

I remember seeing Kevin for the first time as “frat”, unfortunately, I did not get a chance to show him how much I “cared” about him while he was a Crescent, I proudly gave him “the grip”, we exchanged war stories, and then we began stepping.  Kevin remained very competitive, school was always a primary focus, but now he had Sigma in his arsenal to use as a weapon to lead the brothers and sisters at Syracuse to another level.  Needless to say, Chevy Kev did.   After graduation, Kevin quickly transferred his skills from Syracuse to the work force. Whether it was shooting a jump shot, he slowed down from his high school days, starting his own business, coordinating retreats, or working for ABC Sports, Kevin remained consistent.  His values were/are rock solid, which I believe was/is the secret behind him.

Kevin Today
Kevin, still strives for excellence, is still committed to his community, and is still very competitive.  I can truly say Kevin is meeting and exceeding his goals that he scribed back in the early 80’s.

I believe you can forecast a person's future by understanding their past.  There is an untapped source of inspiration enclosed in Kevin and I know that Myra will help bring it out.

Kevin is a brother who can speak in tongues because he loves Myra.  It’s time to clang the symbols in celebration.

God Bless & G.O.M.A.B.
